Senior Design System Designer (m/f/d)

We're looking for a Design System Designer to help evolve our design system together with brand and product design. We developed our design system 5 years ago and now is the time to take it to the next level to enable the best possible product and product development experience. If you think in systems, are excellent at exploring design solutions at both a systematic and feature level, and get excited about crafting them to the details, join our mission.
Design that matters. At ResearchGate your input can help over 20 million scientists and researchers solve global challenges. Whether studying the first moments of our universe, developing innovative cancer treatments or tackling global warming, our users are making a real difference.
Data-driven design. Data is integral to everything we do at ResearchGate. From our outset, we have depended on tests and experiments to guide us and in our recent years, we have refined our qualitative research approach to match to make sure we work from real user insights. We don’t need to argue about the best solution, we can validate with real users.
Cross-functional collaboration. As a designer at ResearchGate, you'll work primarily embedded in a cross-functional team of designers and engineers. You will be the advocate of the user and design in your design system team, and you also help make sure the system is adopted throughout the organisation.
To be successful in this role, folks will need to have:
- 4+ years of experience designing user-centered products, applications or services with specific focus on UI design. Part of your experience involves working on design systems.
- Deep knowledge of web and mobile design trends and conventions, and a system-thinking approach to problem-solving
- Strong portfolio showcasing your understanding of how visual design and interactions work together in a system.
- Attention to detail and and understanding of how your designs will be implemented
- Excellent written and verbal communication in English
- Experience working with agile methodologies and processes
- Experience using data to inform their design process
Your product team is a cross-functional team of product managers, engineers and product analysts who share a strong belief in the positive impact that ResearchGate’s 20 million users can have worldwide. In order to help our users connect with the people, research, and resources they need to advance their work, we strive to perfect the craft of collaborative, user-centric problem-solving.
Your design team brings together designers working on product, copywriting, brand and marketing. We support each other in the craft and get together frequently to get the creative juices flowing. Our extended design team includes the members of our user research community and we work closely with them in discovery and usability testing.
