Using the internet requires a bit of literacy however, internet has come to stay in our society and it is imperative to start looking at how the illiterates can benefit from mobile Internet. Especially in Africa, where the illiteracy level is a little on the high side and we have to strategize on how to bridge the digital divide knowing fully well that the Internet is the future "black gold" and the future has come.
Relevant answer
Answer
Whilst yes, the technology can promote literacy, it will be very dependent on infrastructure and socio-economic conditions. Sensitisation to technology and technological devices will also be required.

What will be the trend of decreasing or increasing digital currency (bitcoin) in 2021-2022?
Relevant answer
Answer
I think the transaction and practices of digital currency and bitcoin will increase in the coming years. As seen, lower income and developing countries introduce the scope of using digital payment methods. In the same way, many countries allow the transaction of bit coin as legal currency to attract foreign investors.

I have to digitize a graph where Y-axis is not constant. Actually it moves up in multiples of 10. It goes up like this: 1e-6, 1e-5, 1e-4, 1e-3, 1e-2, 1e-1 and 1. Since each interval is different from the other hence the digitizer is producing false dataset. Can anybody please help with this one?
If needed pls refer to the image attached.
Relevant answer
Answer
I normally use the WebPlotDigitizer (https://automeris.io/WebPlotDigitizer/) to extract data points from graphs. It can handle different types of plots and scales. Just upload your image there, choose your plot type (2D X-Y) and then pick two points each for both axes (X1, X2 and Y1, Y2). When you enter the values of these points for calibration, you can choose whether the scale is normal or logarithmic. Once you have calibrated the graph, you can get the data points either by hovering over the points with the mouse to obtain the coordinates or using the manual/automatic extraction tools depending on the complexity of the graph. I hope this helps.

Digital twins are an emerging solution to better integrate physical and virtual worlds. In essence, they are software representative of physical things (that cannot be virtualized), mirroring the caracteristics and status of their physical counterparts. IOTA is an emerging cryptoasset for IoT. Therefore, how IOTA can be applied to digital twins is an important question while monetizing IoT towars a things economy.
Relevant answer
Answer
Dear Antonio Marcos Alberti,
the idea of IOTA is particularly suitable for use in Industrial IoT (IoT) - especially when several Digital Twins (DTs) are networked with one another and form a DT Federation (DTF).
In order to achieve the earth's Climate-neutral Ecosystem, a globally distributed DTF is necessary. All Management Functions that influence the Ecosystem in any way and are perceived by numerous DTs must be "integrated" into a DTF. In this context I would like to refer to the EU initiative "Destination Earth (DestinE)":
For the use of IOTA, some ideas can be adopted from the use of Blockchain.
My literature sources give some information on the importance of the idea of IOTA in using DTs in industrial areas.

According to (Rigby & Bilodeau, 2018) five key trends emerged from Bain & Company's 2017 survey, in which respondents felt that today's business leaders must trust and empower employees, not command and control them; and that culture is at least as important as strategy for business success. In addition, supply chain capabilities are increasingly vital to our industry's success. Likewise, digital disruption and software solutions are rapidly changing the rules of competition. Today, there is a wide and varied range of business management tools, of which it is interesting to know the most widely used.

I am trying to develop a simple method for amateurs to make relative measurements of noise in digital cameras. One method involves taking multiple images of a standard grey card, bringing the images into Photoshop as a stack and then using Photoshop's standard deviation function. As expected, the mean value of the standard deviation over the image increases with ISO setting. However, there is also a distinct spatial pattern to the standard deviation visible at all ISO settings. (See example image attached.) Changing lenses or just adjusting focus changes the pattern. No corresponding pattern is observed when calcuting mean or median.
My experiments were conducted on a copy stand using a Canon 5D Mark II DSLR and a Kodak grey card. The attached image is the pattern when the card is in focus. The contrast has been enhanced to make the pattern clearer. The standard deviation was calculate from 10 images taken in rapid sequence under close to identical conditions.

Douglas Stinson I do not know. A file in photoshop, and the screen is periodic. Taking a picture of a screen may give moire patterns. I guess that would be the mean, just one pic. I havent experimented with picture averaging and optics in practice. But use statistics a lot on data in general.
I do have an optics course from the study time and worked with a large laser for TV holography recordings. The small lenses we used would always give fringe patterns doe to imperfections in the glass or small particles. The lenses were used to spread the laser beam over an object for study. It would not look as periodic as your pic, but still there would be irregularl cocentric fringes with shifting maxima and minima.

As a researcher, teacher and advisor, I realize that the times and days dedicated to rest are often not respected. The digital facility allows people to get in touch on the strangest days and times and acting as if this is absolutely normal.
I see this as professional digital clutter. Respect and consideration for people in their hours and rest days must be followed even in modern digital means of communication.

Thank you very much for this question, which frankly we suffer a lot from facing such cases and constantly... You put your hand on the wound, frankly, this situation existed before the pandemic, but to a much lesser extent than now... We suffer from work and without stopping day and night and without taking into account the time of rest or our family situation... In addition, there is confusion in setting decisions and laws that change in the last moments and that send us digitally to implement them, and unfortunately the victims are always teachers and students. .. Frankly, I feel that I am very tired, most of the teachers started showing symptoms of ZOOM FATIGUE due to working long hours on the Internet… I always ask myself and I am sure I am not the only one, but all the teachers with me ask the same questions… Where is my personal life? Where is my rest time??? Who will compensate me for the continuous hours of stress that I feel??? Unfortunately, there are no answers to these questions, and the situation will continue because of the extreme passivity with which we deal with events. There must be an end to this. We must not transgress the hours of rest and official holidays...Unfortunately in our country, people always come in the last, knowing that they must be come in the first...My sincere gratitude to everyone.

Discussion: I'm worried about appreciating the resolution of the image sensors. In the analog era of the image on film it was clear: 300 lin / mm, 600, 1200 and so one. This should not be limited by the quality of the optics or the quality of the film. Now manufacturers boast that they use digital cameras at 2 Mpixel, 4, 8 16 32 ... How far does it make sense?
Relevant answer
Answer
the pixels are still covering (usually) a fixed area on the chip so higher resolution means better sampling of the image (roughly -- better quality). of course, smaller pixels also mean higher noise of certain types, interference, etc.

Petter Nielsen Bulcsu Szekely Loretta Anania , many thanks for your insights.
Two recent developments can be noted, showing different approaches towards a similar recognition of Digital Platforms and infrastructure as goods of common interest for Society:
-the USA initiative on infrastructure, following the inaugural speech of President Biden on the need to develop infrastructure (as a public/common good)
Public role is recognised, an the common need is promoted, with consideration on the growth impact on the economy for any investment in the infrastructure [1]
-the EU interest on Data Sovereignty, which may not give answers yet, but emphasises the importance of infrastructure (and its digital aspects: digital infrastructure as such, and digital twin of physical infrastructure) [2]. • What are the specific advantages and potential negative impacts associated with digitalisation and sustainable development?
  • How to measure how smart a city is in relation to intended well-being?
  • Why not drive the digital transition to boost the sustainability agenda in the pursuit of the SDGs?
Relevant answer
Answer
Your question is really very vast. In very simple terms, we can observe that "digital transformation" is a deeply ambivalent process. there is no 'natural' correlation with the normative orientations we usually associate with "sustainability.
-- If we look at the ecological dimension of sustainability, we see that digital transformation is inducing many new forms of energy consumption and also, quite aside from the wastes and side-effects of the various energy production processes, is impulsing the production of myriad gadgets such as smartphones, batteries, data centres, screens, etc., that require specific material inputs (e.g., rare earths) who extraction, transformation and subsequent disposal can be strongly perturbing to human health and to other Biosphere processes at various scales.
If we look at the social dimension of sustainability, we see first of all that digital technologies can be vectors of new forms of violence, including cyber-criminality, cyber-terrorism, surveillance [Big Brother], and profound manipulation of the "data" that feeds -- through the 5 senses -- cognitive experience of each of us and of us as cultural and social beings. So, what array of "indicators" might be proposed, in order to characterise (i) the ways in and extent to which a city is becoming "smart" (= digitalised?), and also (ii) the ways in which the experiences of well-being and community are being modified "adversely" or favorable? Personally, I would favor tghe application of a framework like that proposed by Max-Neef, with several different dimensions of human needs/capacities for characterising wealth, deprivation and vulnerability. But a detailed response to your question would need to work through some "case studies" that that would be a fully-fledged research programme.

On checking the resistance of a cell, I am getting a very high negative resistance (-15 M) and low positive resistance when I exchange the DMM terminals (i.e. check cell from opposite electrodes). MY EIS curve also starts from negative imaginary and real resistance. Can anyone tell me what is the physical interpretation of that? Any explanation would be appreciated. Thank you.
Relevant answer
Answer
If the cell is an electrochemical one, then its electrodes are polarized and the cell voltage is added or subtracted from the voltage applied by the instrument in order to measure the resistance. This is a reason to get bizarre results.
Never measure the resistance / conductance of a solution using direct current. AC mode is required to avoid electrolysis.

Dear Dr. Filipe Wiltgen ,
your question involves me a lot. That is, do we have to forget / eliminate previous knowledge to put ourselves in the hands of totally new ones without posing any problems? My answer is that, it is always better to also have a plan B that can allow us to find, however, a solution.
Practical example, GPS systems (mobile phones, tablets, watches, GPS systems, etc. are competing in this field). All these systems help us in the search for the optimal path and guide us step by step towards the goal and back but, in case of problems (breakdown, malfunction, flat batteries, etc.) I still have to be able to get by, for example. bringing with me a simple map of the paths of the place and being able to read it (you do not need a high IQ but you need to have some experience ...) and a small piece of paper does not save my life but allows me to do not stress me maybe on a vacation day.
So, to summarize, technology gallops ... but let's not be slaves to it ..., just have an IQ not high but from a few generations ago ...
My best regards, Pierluigi Traverso.

I too find no new papers published on this topic.
I read this today doubting the application of the ideas among the values of differing cultures and the changes we experience in our needs, values and sensibilities over time.
I do agree with the premise and personally would encourage these values and ideas. My hesitation comes from living with the effects of social media and the hostility the nations of the world seemly needs to preserve. A hostility evident between nations as well as the citizens of each nation. Especially mine.
I believe there’s basic human needs that need to be in place before people feel safe to express needs and values that may not reflect their government or the business leaders. I suggest “Responsible Innovation” as a goal, can come after basic needs (a safe & free of expression of needs and values) are in place.
Until then, I relegate this as a wonderful philosophical discussion that has been written, argued about, and discussed since the start of recorded history (Aristotle et al).
I use the word “relegate” because at the time of this posting the world around me is suffering from the effects of the Covid virus. A global crisis that reveals more about our basic needs and values (locally and globally) than anything made evident in the paper.
Personally I find it hard to “listen” to the writers when they admittedly acknowledge they have no clue how to move beyond a philosophical discourse in the real world needs of the people living in and enduring 2020 and 2021.
However I'll add some resources and links that can be helpful for your studies.

That's a very interesting endeavor! I think it is quite challenging to identify all elements of digital footprint without specifying a particular context and objective of investigating digital footprints. In other words, is the template intended to serve providers', customers', administrators' or public perspectives? Is it to be used as part of an organization analytics strategy, assessment of standard compliance, security and digital forensics, evaluation of digital maturity, etc..?
I think these should be defined before capturing the necessary elements of digital footprints. They may also be included in your template. Furthermore, each elements may have different weights depending on the context it is applied to. For instance, search history might be of much greater value for a marketing perspective than it could be for a security perspective.
I know this does not answer your question directly but I would be happy to discuss it more and would definitely be interested in your work on this!

I have programmed a complete feed forward neural network from scratch based on (Jain 1995-ish) in Matlab. I've successfully used it to separate between 2 classes and am planning to use it on the MNIST dataset to do handwritten digit recognition. This is quite an accomplishment on a personal level but I'm fully aware it has very little utility outside of that. Do you think I should try to publish this anyway since I've spent a lot of time and effort on this and if so, what would be the best format/journal/workshop to publish in? Or should I just keep this to myself and move on?
Relevant answer
Answer
Dear Lyes Demri ,
in this case, I would say that it depends on your results.
First, search for similar works in literature. I guess you will find a lot.
Second, compare your performance to that of similar works.
Finally, publishing is an option if you outperform similar works or at least you get similar performance with less computation time/memory requirements.
As for the MNIST dataset, convolutional neural networks (CNN) perform very well, thus I suggest you to compare you performance with some CNN models.

"Self-fulfilling prophecy" is Moore's own definition, while "a convenient fiction" is somebody else's...
I have decided that, giving some excerpts from two relevant articles will be more helpful than trying to explain my personal views in detail.
A.Z.
Excerpts from the article "Was Moore’s Law Inevitable?" by Kevin Kelly:
(...) Writing in 2005, (...) Moore says, “Moore’s Law is really about economics.” [Moore's colleague] Carver Mead made it clearer yet: Moore’s Law, he says, “is really about people’s belief system, it’s not a law of physics, it’s about human belief, and when people believe in something, they’ll put energy behind it to make it come to pass.”
(...) Finally, in a another reference, Mead adds : “Permission to believe that [the Law] will keep going,” is what keeps the Law going. Moore agrees in a 1996 article: “More than anything, once something like this gets established, it becomes more or less a self-fulfilling prophecy. The Semiconductor Industry Association puts out a technology road map, which continues this [generational improvement] every three years. Everyone in the industry recognizes that if you don’t stay on essentially that curve they will fall behind. So it sort of drives itself.”
(...) Andrew Odlyzko from AT&T Bell Laboratories concurs: “Management is *not* telling a researcher, ‘You are the best we could find, here are the tools, please go off and find something that will let us leapfrog the competition.’ Instead, the attitude is, ‘Either you and your 999 colleagues double the performance of our microprocessors in the next 18 months, to keep up with the competition, or you are fired.'”
Excerpts from the article "A Moore’s Law Mystery" by Rose Eveleth:
(...) Moore’s Law probably didn’t start as a marketing ploy. Even Carlson will admit that. But it then became, what he called, “a convenient fiction.”
Thomas Haigh, a historian of technology at the University of Wisconsin, had a similar idea. “[Moore’s Law] has always been more of a self-promotion for the wondrous accomplishments of the semiconductor industry than a law of nature,” (...) “It’s also been a kind of self-fulfilling prophecy, since it’s taken ever larger investments of research and development money to keep it coming true."

Undergrad learning Patch Clamping here. I was hoping I could imitate an oscilloscope using Clampex. My intuition tells me I have to change the connections on the Digitizer but I am unsure. Anyone who can help, you are greatly appreciated. Thank you, have a great day.
Relevant answer
Answer
I think Dr. Kanjhan is right, however, there could be a problem with time scales. When I did my graduate work, doing VC for a difference current, I liked to record on a short time scale to assess quality of clamp, but use a BNC splitter to an oscilloscope so I could monitor the long time scale and identify when the current peak occurred.
Viewing both at the same time should be pretty straight forward and just specifying what channels you want to record from (in edit protocol->inputs tab->select digitizer channels) and making sure that they are hooked up correctly in lab bench (set up inputs->make sure they are scaled appropriately; pretty easy to check cables if its all MD equipment because it will give you a scaling assistant tutorial for the signal).
However, as far as I'm aware, you will only be able to view one time scale at a time in clampex which is why I decided to use the analogue oscilloscope for slow time scale current monitoring while using the PC for fast time scale monitoring.

When I teach bipolar junction transistor (BJT) in the classroom, I emphasize "Cut-off", "Saturation" and "Forward Active Mode" as the 3 operation modes of BJT useful in digital and/or analog applications.
Finally, I mention the 4th mode, namely "Reverse Active Mode", and reveal its properties to emphasize that a BJT is actually not symmetrical, i.e. emitter and collector cannot be interchanged in hope of a similar performance as in Forward Active Mode.
I also add that, although it is usually regarded as useless, I know of one specific application of Reverse Active Mode, namely TTL logic ICs (which have been manufactured/sold in > billions parts).
As many engineers familiar with digital electronics would know, input transistor(s) of a typical TTL logic gate (e.g. TTL NAND) operate in Reverse Active Mode for some input logic combinations.
I would be glad to learn other applications which benefit from Reverse Active Mode of BJT.
Relevant answer
Answer
Dear Ali,
Yes, exactly.
I had in mind the BJT bevavior as a switch, and especially as an analog switch. Analog switch means that the BJT operates at a small current so that parasitic resistors do not play a role.
At a given current level the diode drop Vbe > Vbc, because the emitter area is smaller than the base area thus Vce is e.g. 30mV. Exchanging the emitter and collector and saturates the BJT in reverse saturation mode makes the two diodes to be in a forward direction. Vbe tries to be > Vbc thus emitter potential drops very close to the collector or even becomes a few mV negative.
Such connections are used in R-2R matrixes of the first BJT DACs and ADCs.

Dobromir

To what extent does producing digital music using computers and related tech tools set a favorable agenda and predisposition for various learning outcomes linked to further quality of life upgrades.
Relevant answer

Hello, Olivier. Yes, I agree about the causal pathways. That's why I also conducted PhD dissertation research on that specific issue and problem. It's easiest to find the pathway if there are obvious intersections among the variables that have comparable empirical instruments, as questionnaires and established testimonials from different demographics. Digital games have demonstrable tangents to learning, stress, and cognitive qualities and can be easily brought into measurable alignment. However, digital music production is even more vague and enigmatic, and one may have to look into some recent developments around neural stimulation to observe certain brain centers being stimulated. Other, more relatable sources, are what has been noted about motivation and gratification--that producing such music effectively without too much expense can stimulate and predispose towards various learning tasks and challenges in general, as completing petty homework and various chores.

Currently any scientific topic relating closely or remotely to Covid19 is "in the buzz", extremely popular.
Vaccine and their properties and effects, propagation of the contamination, comorbidity statistics, this is on the radar of everyone in the broadest audience possible for science.
The popularity of the topics and anxiety around related issues additionallly creates a window for anti-science: fact-negationists, people opposing vaccines whereas vaccines have demonstrated huge benefits not obtainable otherwise (quasi eradication of polyomelitis, tuberculosis, etc), witchcraft recipe mongers (like a former US president who recommended injection of toilet desinfectant or something not far from it. Horrible effects to be expected).
It is likely that anything tagged "Covid19" becomes highly impopular once the pandemic will be over (thus belonging to "bad memories" not to be recalled with any pleasure).
In the longer term popular interest for Space science keeps growing, with impressive achievements from many missions, Europe, Russia, China, USA, Japan, India, etc.
This is a gem, where everyone sees common interest.
Climate science with its degree of probabilistic scenario calculation not understood by all is progressing its audience, especially with young people becoming more aware of huge risks for their future in the absence of immediate radical changes in the way we live on this planet earth.

Question

Ten years after its launch, Industry 4.0 is considered a success story. The concept, with which Germany wanted to catch up after a botched start in digitalisation, is working. Around the world, machines, factories and supply chains are being digitally networked to improve production and work processes and increase value creation. Often with technology and machines "made in Germany".
But the truth is also that the implementation of Industry 4.0 must be much faster. Only with greater speed Germany will be able to maintain its lead over the competition from the USA and China. Two points are central to this:
First, a broad scaling of Industrie 4.0 applications in Germany is still pending. Many projects are successful, but remain in pilot status. This means that the German economy is losing valuable experience, which is indispensable for the further development of exportable digital products. At the same time, entire industries lag behind their international competitors, who are more pragmatic and less perfectionist in their implementation.
Secondly, not only the next technologies, but the technologies after that must be implemented quickly. A good example of this is 5G mobile technology. While this is finally gaining a foothold in the consumer segment, it is almost obsolete again for Industry 4.0. This is because the successful integration of artificial intelligence, which will shape the next wave of industrial digitalisation, already requires the successor generation 6G, and we don't have time to wait ten years for the next mobile communications standard.
For all the praise for the development of Industry 4.0 so far, it is therefore important not to fool ourselves. Germany will not have another ten years for the next wave. In view of the rapid technological development, e.g. in AI, a third of that period, i.e. three to five years, is realistic. For decision-makers in business, politics and trade unions, this means: more courage to move at a faster pace!

Is it going to demotivate the slow learners leading to their dropping out from the fold of education? Will digital online learning further widen up the gap between fast learners and slow learners?
Relevant answer
Answer
I would like to add another thought to this discussion. We already know that self-directed learners do best in an online environment. That is why I think that older students do better than younger students. Not as much nurturing is required. The same may be true of students of any age who are underachievers in self-direction. Those underachievers also need nurturing, guidance and strength-building in their learning. The best way to do this is with a nurturing teacher who can provide those things, even online, in a one-on-one manner. Most of the online instructors I have met do not feel that their job requires this kind of personal attention. I beg to differ; it does! And it is the teacher's job to provide it, just as he or she would do in a face-to-face class. We no longer put "slow learners" in separate classes with other "slow learners" because we now know that they can be mainstreamed with the right teacher(s) and do fine. In today's world, a classroom on ground or online is filled with diverse learning styles and capacities. It is the job of teachers to attend to who needs what in order to reach the desired goals.

Hello,
As the question states, I intend to automatically log the data from my digital balance at a set time interval (if a set time interval creates too much complexity then I am fine with the default rate).
Most guides I have seen online are sort of semi-automatic where I would need to press the 'print' button on the scale in order for the balance to transmit the mass data to the computer. Is there any way for this to be automated so I do not have to sit and press the 'print' button for every reading.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you
Relevant answer
Answer
It depends on your balance. If you didn't find a solution to your problem in the manual of the balance, and if you are free to modifiy the balance, I guess the simplest and most inexpensive way would be the following:
1. Open the balance, and find the two conductors you are closing when you press the print button. In the simplest case, this is a trace leading to an input of a microcontroller, and GND. But if there are several buttons, they might be (electrically) arranged in a matrix.
2. Test your findings by soldering two wires to the two conductors at suitable points, bring the balance back to the original state (with the new wires leaving the housing, of course), and connect the wires by, say, a 470 Ohm resistor. If this results in the same action as triggered by the print button: Congratulations! Otherwise, loop back to point 1.
3. If one of the conductors found in step 1. is GND, measure the voltage between the unconnected wires. If it is 5 V or less, you can probably switch the "hot wire" by an output pin of a microcontroller. If you found a key matrix, you can use an analog switch IC, e.g. 74HC4066 or MAX322CPA. These solid-state switches can be opened and closed by a logic signal, so again, you can use a microcontroller to drive them.
4. Choose a microcontroller. In case of switching 5V to GND, choose one which can be supplied by 5V. Otherwise, 3.3V should be o.k., too. Virtually all microcontrollers include timers. With the help of a timer (and about 20 lines of software), you can trigger the data transmission in arbitrary time intervals.
5. If you opt for the de luxe solution, you could attach a small display and a rotary knob to the microcontroller. Thus, you could adjust the time without changing your program.

I can only share with you my traveling experiences in 2019 and the first weeks of 2020 (I have returned to Macao on January 19 at the start of the pandemic crisis). The same happened in Vietnam: I accessed Grab transportation services in Danang, but they were not available in Haiphong and other smaller towns. These are large countries with huge populations, so I presume that GRAB will concentrate services, mainly transportation and food delivery, in the large metropolitan areas. As you know, in Indonesia, Vietnam, Cambodia, or Laos, transportation in rural areas and small towns uses motorbikes and bicycles, while food is easily offered by countless peddlers and simple booths. I don't foresee any online services able in the next coming years to change these long-term sociabilities and economic patterns.

Using the SCPI commands you can use a free environment like octave or python that has an instrument control "toolbox". You need to connect to the instrument using one of its three available interfaces: the usb or the ethernet interface, or even the gpib interface if you have the appropriate adapter.
>>> import pyvisa >>> rm = pyvisa.ResourceManager() >>> rm.list_resources() ('ASRL1::INSTR', 'ASRL2::INSTR', 'GPIB0::12::INSTR')
#listing the connected intruments >>> inst = rm.open_resource('GPIB0::12::INSTR')
#connects to the instrument avalable on GPIB0::12 but cand be ethernet or usb >>> print(inst.query("*IDN?"))
#send the idn query and expects the intrument to send the identity information.

Many outstanding (non-techno savvy) teachers in physical mode of teaching have now been lowly rated by their students as they fail to deliver effectively on the new digital platform. Whether this sudden change in the rating of teachers on the online digital teaching due to pandemic COVID-19 should be accepted/treated as rational and logical?

I think this digital environment is indeed highlighting some of the gaps in the 'traditional' educators. There are persons who are highly opposed to the use of technology and do not engage in any professional development to upgrade their skills. This doesn't go unnoticed by our clients.

It is too depressing matter to say that the disaster of COVID-19 became a critical turning point in the history of the world, especially in developing countries. About one year of online learning is a disaster for this generation. I wish we would return back to face-to-face education. I know that we don't have any other alternatives. From my point of view, the education system is about collapsing! Let me express that in the following points:
  • There are many black offices for solving the exams and assignments for the students. To diminish cheating, exams must be inside scientific institutes like universities.
  • Transforming science into business is fully incompatible with human values and, in turn, opens the blackmail doors.
  • e-learning cannot be a substitute for face-to-face learning. online-learning is like swimming without water.
  • I want to emphasize that the Internet's networking infrastructure is not suitable for most developing countries in terms of speed and prices. They are behind in their infrastructure. We can observe this easily in these current days of covid-19.

Illegal wildlife trade (IWT) in cybermarkets is a growing issue around the world. Scientists, therefore, are adapting strategies to a new paradigm regarding biodiversity conservation at the internet speed: we need analytical methods in common, sensitize stakeholders, and join efforts to maximize our actions.
I seek for potential illegalities regarding the trade of Brazilian species on the internet and mostly use Web Scraper to sample pages and their content - which I train my "digital robots" to catch.
My main goals are to find, monitor, and expose these marketplaces in order to neutralize advertisements and sensitize public opinion on the risks of digital biopiracy (mostly IWT through internet).
If you know any other method for capturing information on the internet, please, let me know.
Thank you for your help.

Answer
When the mind is not connected to the body, and when our consciousness is positioned in the head, we cannot find a sense of support within ourselves. The more our consciousness is grounded in the body, the more we will be aware of the connection between the mind and everyday life. In coexistence with technology, the body experiences a kind of upgrade and transformation. Furthermore, by postmodernism, the body experiences an inevitable rebirth, and the body's boundaries are erased - the boundaries of gender, gender, mental and physical. The age of the disembodied body, a hybrid of technology or machinery aware of its advanced capabilities, is coming.

Hello everyone,
I am currently working on the state of the art of the digital twin concept, and after seeing the categorization made by Kritzinger, W. et al. (2018) [ ] and reading several articles, some doubts have come to my mind:
  • According to the definition, we can speak of a "true" digital twin as long as the data flows between an existing physical object and a digital object are fully integrated and automated in both directions. However, I have found articles where the developed digital twins, instead of acting or controlling directly their respective physical twin, they send warnings or recommendations to a person so that s/he performs the corresponding actions. Hence, to my understanding, there is no an automated flow of information from the digital twin back to the physical object. In this cases, should we consider the developed digital twins as real or as digital shadows instead?
  • Regarding the composition of digital twins, is it possible a digital twin to be internally composed of several digital twins? To exemplify this, we could think of a factory that builds a certain product, which is composed of several components that already contain their own digital twin implemented from the supplier. Therefore, we could consider that the digital twin of the final product is, among other things, the composition of all the digital twins of its components. I ask this because I have not seen this property widely developed throughout the literature. Instead, it is common to see that the digital twin is composed of physical and/or data-driven computational models and data that describe in real time the behavior of its physical counterpart.
  • Does it have sense to speak about the lifecycle stage in which a digital twin is framed (Design - Development/Manufacturing - Operation/Service - Dismissal/Retire) if it does not represent an object/product? As an example, we could think about the digital twin of an industrial process, of a human being, of disaster management in an Smart City, etc. In my opinion, it does not make sense...
Thank you so much in advance

Answer
Very relevant questions... I have been involved with Digital Twin since several years and the more I learn about it, the more I realize the Digital Twin is a concept and a process rather than an object. This also explains why different people give different interpretations to it, very often also biased by their own capabilities (or limitations) to deal with it. I believe that there are two main governing principles. (1) One is that the Digital Twin has no meaning without targeting a real asset, the Physical Twin, but that physical twin does not necessarily already have to exist when developing the Digital Twin. The Digital Twin can emerge in an embryonic stage at concept design level and get gradually refined and enriched, following even the lifecycle of the physical asset development, until the moment it represents as as accurate as possible the real, individual produced asset with which it can exchange data. This exchange can be to receive data to feedback the actual operational conditions to the digital models, but it can also be a feedforward to use the digital twin in a context of the physical asset, e.g. for model based diagnosis, residual life, virtual sensing, performance prediction, decision support... So the Digital Twin is dynamic, it evolves and hence also has to be traced in terms of versioning, to instantiate together with an individual product and to maintain e.g. consistency with the changing asset when repaired or upgraded. This is also where the Digital Thread comes into play as crucial element. And in a brownfield situation, when no design model is available, the data as such when abundant and representative enough can also constitute some form of Digital Twin, although the data basically remain a condensed and abstracted version of the physical world, only digitized. But gain, this is not an absolute thing, just imagine adding another sensor and one gets more data for the same Digital Twin, or project the data on a CAD model, or provide semantic annotation and add metadata... So dynamic as well.
(2) The second key principle is that the Digital Twin only gets its real meaning by/from the purpose where it is realized for. For the same asset, the Digital Twin will have a different appearance and even composition whether it is developed to design for optimal performance (and which performances are relevant?) against requirements or whether it is used to enable proper manufacturing or for following the lifecycle of the asset, track or predict failure or even to predict the way it can be decommissioned (or recycled). The perhaps semantic element in here is that in my view these are all appearances of the Digital Twin (singular) but not different Digital Twins (plural). This means all these appearances can be traced back to the same reference model or metamodel.
To relate this then to the question how to look at the "systems of systems" problem and whether the higher level digital twin absorbs the lower level... yes and no... the lower level system when designed, produced, used as such has its digital twin. And the same for the higher level. And indeed the lower level digital twin may become part of the higher level as a component. But then the purpose is different and that purpose determines what we consider at a certain point as the Digital Twin... Although this becomes maybe too philosophical. Like the Ship of Theseus...

The COVID-19 pandemic has boosted the acceptance and utilization of digital banking products in our everyday activities. Consequently, banks experienced the financial benefits arising from digitalization, which motivated them to reconsider the need for maintaining a well-developed network of physical branches across the countries. U.S. Bancorp initiated a branch transformation program in 2019, which should lead to the closure of 15 percent of the branches. The bank expanded its transformation plans to close down another 15 percent of its branches in 2021 and according to the data published on their website, they currently have a network of 2760 offices.
Considering the number of people that could be relocated or people whose job positions have been eliminated, what choices do these employees have, especially if other banks resort to similar plans?
