The description of pain for patients and its measurement by practitioners is challenging. When a member is injured, the pain of the affected nerves passes through messages that cause pain.
Neurological messages carry the pain to the spinal cord and then to the brain. Upon arrival of the painful nerve signal to the nerve rope, a pain message Is suppressed by a group of neurotransmitters called "ankophalin". When enkephalins are spinal cord neurons
They come to prevent the transmission of messages to the brain. Drugs have the same functionalities as enoxalones and to protein receptors Pain occurs in the nerve routine and prevent the transmission of pain messages to the brain.
For my master thesis, I am working on Mobile Laser Scanner data which my duty is Extraction of Powerlines Poles. My data is about 10 Kilometers long and has approximately 60 the powerline poles. Fortunately, my algorithm has extracted 58 the poles correctly and two others poles were not completely extracted by Mobile Laser Scanner system which caused proposed algorithm can not extract them. The proposed algorithm is completely automatic and does not need many parameters for extraction.
My main question is that which circumstances do need my implementation to be published in a good ISI journal?
Suppose I take a simple exponential function of decrease with respect to velocity. i.e. exp -(alpha* mod(velocity)). How can I find alpha? Is there a way to find it numerically?

After manuscript acceptance, a quick publication is desired but some journals take as much as a year before publishing accepted manuscript without providing early view option. I want to know how the practicing Engineers are calculating in the field to design a Concrete pavement on this cross section of pavement.
I am trying to measure the toughness of leaves. I have rigged up a system where I put a leaf on a cube of agar (15g agar per liter water) and drop an empty syringe with a piece of wire (not a needle) through a tube to puncture the leaf. Unfortunately, the weight of the empty syringe is sufficient to penetrate the leaf so I figured a tougher leaf would cause the wire to enter the agar less, thus making a shallower hole. Is there an equation to relate the force required to puncture the leaf to the amount of slowing the leaf exerts on the wire? I also don't know if the difference will be perceptible and perhaps I should find a lighter puncture object
I am looking for literature to aid me with the explanation and discussion of experimental results (saturated pool boiling of water at atmospheric pressure on copper surfaces) where a shift of the boiling curve towards lower superheats and a decrease of CHF were recorded; this trend was noted after the first onset of CHF. I am interested in literature that deals with the change of both the boiling process and surface characteristics (wettability, topography, chemistry etc.) after the first onset of CHF. Also, any literature about the (possible) shift of the boiling curve in repeated experiments on the same surface (as a consequence of CHF onset and transition to film boiling, where possible low-temperature annealing occurs) would be most welcome. So far, a search lasting several hours yielded no results.

This sentence is true? When operating at stoichiometric conditions, possibility of knocking is lower, so it is not necessary to use the highest fuel octane number.
I think If an engine runs at richer or leaner conditions, higher octane number is required due to lower flame speed.?

How can you investigate application of GPUs to accelerate existing bespoke CFD solvers that has been developed and to benchmark its performance to solve complex fluid flow problems?
I want to evaluate a multiphysics fluid pump problem. This is a conceptual fuel pump for automotive application. The current model has magnetic elements (in pump itself), reciprocating components and an integrated BLDC motor. Architecture of this pump is considerably different from existing reciprocating and rotary pumps. I hope to find some vital information like delivery pressure and flow rate fluctuation, net heat generation, flow pattern inside the pump, dynamics of the moving components etc.

We want to conduct a survey asking participants to rank a set of 10 fundamental engineering concepts. Ranking a concept 1 would mean the participant believes this concept is the most important engineering concept for an engineer to know, while a ranking of 10 would mean the concept is of least importance.
If roughly half the participants are practicing engineers and the other half are engineering instructors, we would like to know the extent to which these groups might differ in their overall rankings. That is to say, we don't just want to know how these groups differ in their ranking of each individual concept, but rather how one groups aggregated ranked list differs from the others. What would be an appropriate statistical measure for such a comparison?

The carotid shunt is made up of a tube on the extremities of which the balloons are glued during the manufacturing process. Quality control (functionality test) are carried out in order to ensure that the product is conform. It has to be ensured that the balloons suffer no leaks.

Two nozzles of different output diameters (0.20 mm and 0.25 mm) are being used to take mass measurements for an analysis over a time period for the same input pressure.
It has been observed that the standard deviation in the measurements increases in with an increase in diameter of the nozzle.
Is this true? Does an increase in diameter causes greater fluctuations in the flow for the same input pressure?

Hello all. I want to connect secondary RI detector to 10 years old (never used) LC-2010, which has UV detector. Engineer said we need ss250c adapter box to let communicate detector to the computer. I couldn't find anything, even something near. I found on google search that it just needs A/D converter. Please suggest.

I have to find of abbreviation within a given paragraph/ document and abbreviation must be related to that paragraph/document context.
e. g. If there is a paragraph written on politics and some words are found to be ""BJP, BASPA, AAP and be" now. Algorithm should tell me all abbreviation found BJP, BASPA and AAP. it should not give "be" because BE stand for Bachelor of Engineering which does not match context.

Hello, I have watched a video on Youtube about using a method for getting the 3D coordinates of a 3D blade. The engineer used a sensor and touched the blades surface by it and it was transferred to solidworks....Any help to know this method?
Occluded hydrogen has proven effective to remove the CO that anchor on the metal surface. This has been done on Palladium metal. One of the problems is that the treatment with hydrogen distror and ultimately destroy the metallic matrix. Thus, the non-poisoning effect is loss. However, palladium alloys does not suffer such distortion. No wonder palladium alloys electrocatalyst has shown this non-poisoning effect [JES, 149 (2002) A1400]. What do you think?
Glue is discharged from a syringe tip at a constant pressure P through a constant time period t.
The original tip is of diameter d1= 0.20 mm. A new tip is used of diameter d2 = 0.25 mm.
Considering only the tip of the syringe i.e. constant length and constant diameter, does the flow rate (be it mass flow rate or volumetric flow rate) decrease with the new tip for P and t ?

I am working with Ansys 19.
I need enter the thermal conductivity of one material in engineering data for a Static structural analysis. The big problem is that the thermal conductivity is dependent on the porosity and temperature.
How can I enter the thermal conductivity as a continus function? Somebody has some tutorial or can help me?
Accuracy assessment of thematic map is often performed using groung truth sample points, generated randomly. There are techniques to evaluate the appropriate number of sample points. However, since those observation are "local", I have the strong feeling this strategy might fail to detect severe spatial inaccuracies (i.e, checking the accuracy of detected contours of different land cover patches obtained as a result of supervised classification).
As such, I was wondering how transect lines can help here. Since they provide a continuous information along a line over the mapped area, I was wondering how thematic accuracy can be assessed this way ? I came accross an interesting read (Skidmore, A. K., & Turner, B. J. (1992). Map accuracy assessment using line intersect sampling. Photogrammetric Engineering and Remote Sensing, 58, 1453-1453), however I missed some important details and could not be able to apply the method described in the paper correctly.

I'm an electrical engineer and I'm not so familiar with data mining concepts (I studied clustering concepts though). I have a data set that includes the measured electricity consumption of households over a year (So, the time series is too long).
I want to calculate the entropy for each household separately based on its time series to see which ones show more regular patterns.
Could you please introduce me some proper entropy measures for this?
(Note: the time series is long hence, I need a suitable measure for that)
Also, if you could introduce me a reference that explains the difference between regularity, complexity, and variability I would be grateful.

Today, every educational field or domain contains several branches. You first choose one branch of your field to prepare your Master and Ph.D degrees. What is preferable system for you:
1- study the same branch at both Master and Ph.D degrees
2-study different branch at Ph.D degrees from Master degree

We do not need to take the whole of the real numbers to do engineering. Since engineers only care about the first n decimal places and treat everything after that as noise, if every term in an equation has units of meters, replace them with units of centimeters, millimeters, decimeters, etc, effectively multiply everything by 10^n for what ever n value is important. Then go and use the ring of integers).
(update)I took some liberties when posting the problem that I did not think would be relevant but have clearly shown to be vital based on the comments I have received. Because engineers have the option to work in which ever set of units are desired ie, centimetres, milimeters, nanometres, etc, seconds, miliseconds, nanoseconds, etc. any problem that is not dimensionless to start with can be written as a problem in the integers with some rounding. As far as engineers are concerned, anything over n decimal places is literately noise from their equipment and not meaningful information. It does not matters that noise1+noise2+noise3+...etc > threshold for not noise. Engineers live with this all the time, of course it would be nice to be able to find out the approximate size of the error term. Does this make the initial equation not in a ring? Yes, but the equation that the engineers consider to be a good enough approximation will be in the ring of integers. Just like when we approximate functions with taylor series there will be error associated with this method. Have I figured out the exact extend to the error yet, no. As important as this is that is something that I need to work on. Yes, the value of n for an engineer will change if they multiply 2 numbers together with differing values n1 and n2 needed to make all significant figures into integers, but if the dimensions of the numbers provide a useful tool to avoid this pitfall. If I multiply x in meters by y in seconds before switch everything from meters to nanometres and seconds to nanoseconds, then the conversion from meters to nanometers is multiplication by 10^9, and the conversion from seconds to nanoseconds is again multiplication by 10^9. So the product x*y would have to be multiplied by 10^18 in the conversion. Similarly if I wanted to convert the volume to cubic nanometers from cubic meters I would have to multiply by 10^27.
